Penguin Encounter at the Mississippi Aquarium: A Unique Experience

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I love animals. Well, most animals. I’m scared of birds. I don’t know why….I’ve never been attacked, but they terrify me.
When I saw that our local aquarium was offering penguin encounters, I was really interested, but they are so similar to a bird, I wasn’t sure I really wanted to do it. Spoiler alert: I did it and loved it!
Duke, the penguin
We had a chance to meet Duke, an African Penguin. Isn’t he handsome?
At the time we did this, the encounter cost was $59.95/person. It included a quick educational chat, a chance to interact with Duke, or another penguin and general admission to the aquarium. The encounter is for ages 5 and up.
So if you’ve ever wondered what a penguin feels like and sounds like, this encounter brings you up close and personal with one. You learn so much from the specialist that is with the penguin and you have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
You can take photos and videos. There is also a professional photographer there and you have the option to purchase those photos for an additional fee.
